London Marathon Week: The Events Worth Showing Up For

If this is your first marathon week — congratulations. Enjoy it. The buzz, the excitement, the hype. It’s an intense few days, with every brand under the sun out in full force.

A few years ago, it was rumoured that London Marathon had around 200 run communities activating with events over the weekend. You can only imagine how much that’s grown; emergent brands, established crews, all collaborating and competing for attention.
It’s easy to get caught up in it and try to make every event. That’s also one of the quickest ways to burn out before race day. If you’re spectating, by all means lean into it. Move between events, soak it up, see everything. But if you’re racing on Sunday and looking to perform, any seasoned marathoner will tell you the same thing: pick a few events at most, and make sure they’re intentional.
Not the hair braiding, nail painting or shoe bejewelling activations that some brands fall into. Focus instead on the sessions that are purposefully designed, those that add something in the final days of your taper. With that in mind, here are a few events worth your time this marathon week.

Wednesday 22 April — Under Armour: Rewire Your Limits
A last-minute mental tune-up. Expect practical sports psychology tools designed to boost confidence and sharpen focus; simple techniques used by elite athletes to unlock marginal gains. You’ll also leave with a bespoke, artist-designed Under Armour race vest.
Thursday 23 April — The Running Room: Long Haul Leg Refresh
A final check-in with some of the best physios in the business. After peak training volume, it’s normal for your body to still feel fatigued — this is about recalibration.
Think targeted massage, last-minute adjustments and a chance to arrive at the start line feeling fresher, and ready to go.
Friday 24 April — Run Limited: Marathon Mobility
Taper week has a way of playing tricks on you. You start to feel sluggish. Every minor sensation feels like a potential issue. This session is designed to reset that with light mobility work to keep you moving, settle the mind and leave you feeling agile and prepared for Sunday.
Saturday 25 April — Tracksmith: Community Shakeout
The final run before race day. Join Tracksmith at their Chiltern Street Trackhouse and tap into one of London’s most international running communities. Expect practical race insights from experienced marathoners, a relaxed atmosphere and, as ever, some well-timed baked goods to support the carb load.
You can fill every hour of marathon week chasing Instagram-promoted events, expending energy, socialising, constantly moving. Or you can be intentional. The best performance on Sunday doesn’t come from doing more, but from doing what matters. Choose carefully. Stay relaxed. Keep cortisol low. Put your feet up when you can. And remember — the race doesn’t really begin until mile 20.
