What is a Biomechanics Assessment?
It’s a full-body movement analysis that looks at how your joints, muscles and nerves work together. We identify asymmetries, compensations and intrinsic factors that may be causing pain, limiting performance or increasing injury risk.
Who is this assessment for?
Anyone experiencing recurring niggles, recovering from injury, or wanting to move more efficiently. It’s also ideal for runners and endurance athletes looking to optimise form and reduce load on key joints.
Do I need to be injured to benefit?
Not at all. Many clients book proactively to improve technique, prepare for an event, or address long-standing movement habits before they develop into problems.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move easily in — such as leggings, shorts or training kit. You may be asked to perform simple movements standing, seated or lying down.
Is it a high-intensity session?
No. While you might do a few minutes of walking or light jogging, the assessment is low impact and tailored to your ability and comfort.
How long does it take?
Sessions last 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your history, goals and the complexity of your movement patterns.
What happens afterwards?
You’ll receive a detailed report and body map outlining findings, compensations and opportunities for improvement. Your coach will also recommend next steps, from corrective exercises to a full Bespoke Programme.
Can this be integrated into my OneTrack training?
Yes. Your results can be fully integrated into your existing programming and monitored via our coaching platform, ensuring your training aligns with your movement needs.
Will I need follow-up sessions?
Not always. Some clients come for a single assessment, while others choose ongoing work to address deeper patterns. Your coach will advise based on your goals.
Is this the same as physiotherapy?
No. We do not diagnose medical conditions. A Biomechanics Assessment focuses on movement quality, intrinsic mechanics and load distribution. If we identify something requiring clinical input, we can refer you to our multidisciplinary team.
How is this different from a standard gait analysis?
A traditional gait analysis focuses mainly on how you run on a treadmill, usually using video or pressure measurements. Our Biomechanics Assessment goes far deeper. We look at the intrinsic mechanics that influence how you load, stabilise and move — factors like joint mobility, nerve tension, muscular imbalances and compensatory patterns that a gait analysis alone can’t detect. It provides a far more comprehensive and accurate picture of why you move the way you do, and what needs to change to improve performance or reduce injury risk.
